A Sense of Self

To follow as part of Self Negotiated Unit

In a way, the Family Album is a vehicle for expressing a sense of self - after all, the photographs within it are of people we are closely involved with and who are integral to our being. Who we choose to photograph and place within the album is significant - if only from a sense of duty but more often by desire to record images of loved ones.  We can gain a 'portrait' of sorts of the photographer (and his or her relatives) by examining the images preserved in the album, just as I did with the Box Family.
