Me, My Self and the Photographic Eye

The Pieces

Having laboured through steps one and two, it was time to think about how I could realise the Me I wished to make public in the form of the project.

I decided to concentrate on three pieces which, together, offer to the viewer a portrait of Me as I wish to be portrayed: the publicly accessible photographer who allows strictly controlled glimpses (which may, or may not, be entirely accurate) into a personal world.

Here is what I ended up with:

  1. the metamorphosis of Me from a child in a family of photographers to a practitioner in my own right;
  2. contemporary  Me, as seen through  images which record those things which are significant in my life or which could be said to be characteristic of Me, but contain no direct likeness of Me;
  3. a statement of my philosophy as a photographer (in the form of a quotation) as articulated by a nameless, characterless talking head.

Let us examine each of these in turn...
