Preparatory Work

Following on from work in the previous Unit on the documentary, (click here to see where I left off) I have spent some time playing with the notion of repurposing my father's photographs in order to give them a fresh lease of life.

For example, I took what has become the signature image for this project, and turned it into a digital negative. I used this to produce a cyanotpye - hitching a ride on what my colleague was experimenting with at the time.

I did this also with several other images I have of my father's.

As well as photographic experiments, I spent quite some time working out the best way to suspend 136 photographs from one horizontal point for The Photographer's Daughter, and had to jump every conceivable technical hurdle ever devised in order to produce the video for All Photography... 

No-one can say we don't suffer for our art...
